EL1 Senior Financial Reporting Advisor

We are currently seeking an experienced EL1 Senior Financial Reporting Advisor to join a federal government department within the healthcare sector for a 12 month contract, with potential to extend:

  • $75-$95/hour + super
  • Located Woden, ACT
  • Hyrbid work arrangement

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic Financial Advisory: Provide high-level specialist analysis and expert advice on aged care financial reporting, ensuring complex data translates into actionable insights for the sector.
Framework & Data Governance: Lead the evolution of reporting standards (QFR and ACFR) by assessing change requests against established principles to maintain data integrity and relevance.
● Provider Support & Resource Development: Design and maintain high-quality templates, guidance materials, and technical resources that empower aged care providers to meet their reporting obligations accurately.
● Executive Briefing & Decision Support: Drive the preparation of sophisticated briefing materials and presentations that inform senior executive decision-making and facilitate high-level stakeholder consultations.
● Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary liaison between providers and key regulatory health bodies to foster collaboration and alignment across the aged care ecosystem.
● Project & Risk Management: Oversee the end-to-end coordination of work activities, including strategic planning, scheduling, and proactive risk mitigation to ensure all reporting milestones are met.

To be successful in this role:

You will be a highly experienced senior financial reporting professional with proven experience and reliability in previous positions including the following:
● Specialist technical accounting / financial reporting capability, including the ability to undertake analysis and provide advice regarding financial data and reporting matters.
● Strong stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide succinct and accurate technical advice.
● Ability to work independently under limited direction, respond flexibly to change, think critically, analyse and solve complex problems and make decisions using research and analysis, good judgement, expertise and knowledge.
● Demonstrates strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance, or CPA/CA qualification completed (essential)
  • Experience in health/aged care sector (desirable)
  • Previous government experience (desirable)
